[NEW] Keratosis Pilaris Lotion – Avon Moisture Therapy Derma Restoring Body Lotion – Reviews

What is Chicken Skin or Keratosis Pilaris?

Keratosis pilaris is commonly referred to as “chicken skin.” It’s a harmless condition that causes small, hard, raised bumps that make your skin feel like sandpaper.

The bumps are usually light-colored & appear often on the upper arms, thighs, and buttocks. It is less common to show up on the face. They can also become red and swollen.

Outside of some itching, keratosis pilaris does not hurt or get worse. Many children & adolescents get it, and it usually disappears as they get older.

What Causes It?

Chicken skin is caused by a buildup of keratin. This is a protein that protects skin from infections. The buildup forms a plug that blocks the opening of a hair follicle. Doctors do not know why this happens.

If your skin is dry you are more likely to develop keratosis pilaris. It’s usually worse in the winter months, when there’s less moisture in the air, and then may clear up in the summer.

It often affects people with certain skin conditions, like eczema or atopic dermatitis.

A doctor can diagnose keratosis pilaris by just looking at your skin. There is no need to be tested for it. It is NOT contagious.

How To Treat Keratosis Pilaris or “Chicken Skin”?

There is no available universal treatment or cure for the condition. Sometimes it even clears completely by itself without treatment. However, as mentioned before, proper skin moisturization is beneficial.

Here are some steps you can take:

  1. Take steps to prevent excessive skin dryness.
  2. Use mild soaps like Dove soapless or Cetaphil cleanser or the Avon Moisture Therapy Derma Restoring Body Scrub.
  3. Do lubricate skin with a special keratosis pilaris lotion, like Avon Moisture Therapy Restoring Body Lotion.
  4. Gently massage the lotions into the affected twice daily.

NJ Mama wrote: “This is literally the only thing I’ve ever found that helps my KP. I have tried everything- from inexpensive to very expensive. It’s plagued me my entire life. Please never discontinue!”

Donna shares: “Finally, I’ve found something that absolutely works for Keratosis Pilaris! You need to use the scrub along with the body lotion. I use it every other day after my shower. The bumps on my arms, back of my legs and my butt are all gone! My skin is so smooth now, my husband noticed and complemented me on how soft and smooth my skin feels! Thank You Avon, for making something that works for this skin problem. I’ve tried a lot of other creams,(some recommended by dermatologist) that did not work! I was almost ready to give up until I found this one! Avon, thank you, thank you, thank you!”

Hannah says: “I was skeptical because I hate the greasy-ness of lotion but I truly love this lotion because it really does moisturize the areas where you need it without irritating the bumps even more. Plus, it’s fragrance free which I like because it’s not irritating like I’ve stated above. It lasts for awhile, however it doesn’t last the whole day but that doesn’t bother me. I apply once in the morning and once at night. I can really feel a difference. I can’t wait to use the scrub to see maximum results, unfortunately I didn’t know of the scrub until I saw the campaign mag but it’s okay though.”

Nanagg said: “I’m 68 and my legs need to look smooth and not wrinkly some call it chicken skin with this product it work to smooth that look and I use the scrub also they help a lot if you use both, scrub and lotion.”
